CoSector helps set the standards in EdTech

CoSector is an active contributor to the development and adoption of shared standards that improve the student experience and deliver cost-effective, interoperable solutions for the sector

CoSector has developed a deep understanding of integration use cases and critical data flows through years of collaboration with institutions to streamline their digital ecosystems. This expertise enables CoSector to support customers both individually and collectively, including through sector bodies such as JISC and UCISA, and to contribute to the development of international integration standards via its membership in 1EdTech.

A strong example of this is CoSector’s partnership with Manchester Metropolitan University to develop a model of the assessment lifecycle. This model was later validated and adopted in JISC’s national guidance on the electronic management of assessment. It has shaped end-to-end thinking around the flow of curriculum, enrolment, and assessment data—from Student Records and Curriculum Management Systems into learning platforms and assessment tools—supporting sophisticated marking and moderation workflows. These workflows deliver timely feedback to learners, definitive records of achievement, and actionable analytics that enhance awareness of the assessment process.

The resulting suite of tools, Assessment+, has enabled institutions to streamline their support for the assessment lifecycle and respond to growing demand for personalised submission diets and schedules.

As institutions embrace more innovative and authentic forms of assessment, the diversity of tools expands—but consistency, personalisation, and compliance with institutional policies remain essential. Emerging specifications from 1EdTech, such as Edu-API and Asset Processor, offer new opportunities to manage internal and external tools in a consistent way. CoSector is proud to work with customers to define priority use cases and ensure that Assessment+ and all its offerings evolve in step with sector needs.
